Don't worry about memorization just read it.  You will retain enough.

Then sign up at hamstudy.org take a pretest.  You will fail it but you will see 
that you retained some.  this will show you what you need to know more about 
and provide that info for you.  

the same questions pool is on the test so no surprise questions.  once your 
passing regularly, they have a 24/7 testing spot right on that hamstudy.org go 
take the test.  Bam your a HAM
