Subj : 'Reasonably frail' man found injured under bridge in Gisborne To : All From : News Person Date : Thu Oct 26 2023 11:20 am Police are appealing for information after a "reasonably frail" man was found under a bridge with "unexplained" injuries in Gisborne on Sunday. The man was found in a serious condition on Wainui's Moana Rd, under the Okitu Bridge, around 10.30am. "The man was transported to Waikato Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition," police said. A scene examination was conducted and initial inquiries have established the man lived a "short distance from the bridge". "He walks daily, usually mid-morning, from his home on Wairere Road to the Makarori Headland and back." Police described him as being "reasonably frail". He has a slight build, is 160cm tall and walks with a "slight stoop". "Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this man on Sunday morning or who has any information as to how he may have sustained his injuries." He was found wearing a thin blue thermal top, black fleecy track pants and brown/black tramping boots. Police would like to hear from anyone who has CCTV of the Wairere Rd (Ocean Park end) and Okitu Bridge area.
