On Internet Friends

The goal of friendship is mutual support. You're there for each other when
you're in a jam. Friends on the internet aren't going to be able to help you.
Some guy on the other side of the world or country, isn't going to help you
move, or go with you to a place you'd rather have a friend by your side, or
whatever.

On-line interactions promote a wealth of weak bonds, but that is not what
human beings need. We are so connected, in terms of our ability to communicate,
and yet people feel more lonely than ever.

Even small online communities are substandard for building bonds and truly
getting to know people.

I implore everyone to get out in the real world and make real friends.
