`hamgoblin45` [Thread] My second story, also when I was 16, my brother, dad, and I lived with a roommate who was about 35. One day, an old friend of his comes over and stays the night. My dad takes me aside the next day and explains to me that this friend had brain cancer and was going to die soon. Apparently, he had just been all around the world finishing up his bucket list and now he had less than a week estimated to live. And for some reason he wanted to die in our house. He stays for a few days, and I had a few somber conversations with the guy. I even lent him my camcorder to record a goodbye to his daughter. It was really weird sleeping with him just in the other room. Then on like the fifth day, I come home from school and there are cop cars all on my block. My dad comes up and explains that the cancer guy didn't have cancer at all. Actually, he was a fugitive on assault and drug trafficking charges, and had evaded the police by hiding out in our house. My dad told me he had stepped out in the backyard and found the conman with a gun, about to off himself. My dad stops him and calls the police, and he's taken in to custody. Then I watched the tape he recorded his goodbye on. If you've ever seen Breaking Bad, remember the pilot when he thinks the jig is up and records a confession to his family. It was exactly like that. I still probably have it somewhere. **TL;DR: Fugitive tricked my family into thinking he was terminally ill and then tried to kill himself in my yard** [Thread]: https://reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/29hgzt/what_is_the_creepieststrangest_thing_that_has/cil7dyt/
